Ibstock Place School, a private all-through day school in Roehampton, South West London, approached TaskSpace to support with the conversion of a basement storage area into a stunning Innovation & Media Centre.

With typical design features of a basement space, such as concrete pillars and exposed service pipework, the space was ideally suited to an industrial studio feel.

Included in the proposed design for the space were a number of distinct zones:

• Recording Studio – acoustic-panelled segregated room for recording podcasts and audio publications
• Professional green screen area with infinity curves for video recording and Virtual Reality
• ‘Newsroom’ space for the school’s marketing and news publications to be created by the students
• Fabrication Zone for digital embroidery, 3D printing and laser cutting
• And finally a central classroom with mobile circular tables, and two separate smart screens for maximum student visibility

Since the completion of the Innovation and Media Centre the school has a facility which is unmatched among independent senior schools, and continues the school’s ambitious development strategy for innovation.
